Well i ve finnaly got of my arse (or should that be got on to) and started processing the pictures i ve taken recently. I ve started shooting in RAW which is good and bad(and ugly).First the good:
Better image quality
Non destructive Editing

and the bad:

Bigger file size means i have now only 4 picturse at once on the buffer of my D50 and only 500 something picturse on my card instead of the 1.1K
IS A BITCH to work with (read on)

Ok now then let me now go through what i do now in processing one photo. Now that i switched to RAW i also now use nikon capture NX for image ADJUSTMENTS(as thats what it was purly designed for) and Photoshop for cloneing and the more arty siade of things

step one: After taking pictures take card out and slot into card reader on USD hub and power up the rig (PC)
step two: start up nikon picture project and import files. (luckly its set up so each import is into a new folder next folder is gonna' be AR0026 to give you an idea)
step three: delete photos that are not wanted for what ever reason weather compostion picture quality colour exposure ECT.
step Four: select which ones will be uploaded and which ones will stay on the server as more family orientaited stuff
Step Five: open all photos that will be uploaded in capture NX
Step Six: correct them. this is colour croping and general adjusments. takens anything from and hour to a day or two.
Step Seven: If needed do the more arty adjustments (B&W blurs paints ECT.) again depending can take from and hour to a couple of days
Step Eight: Fire up opera open the upload bit of DA in a new window then that into multiple tabs. I have a quick prossecess for batch uploading as follows i) pic photo ii) fill in details about said photo iii) switch to next tab and select photo iv) switch back and click upload v) repeat vi) after five go around clicking the print options (no thanks) then close tabs which are done and open more tabs if needed. vii) wash rinse reapeat.


thats about it really. i ve been away for a while because my PSU (power supply to the technologily impared) broke. A good excuse for a 50W upgrade to a 400W PSU though.
